To Whom it may concern

Please consider my application for the Division of Human Rights Virtual Internship (ID: 109374) for Summer 2023.I have both a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Sociology. I am eager to help others, determined, dedicated, hardworking, and compassionate. My goal is to obtain a position where I will have the opportunity to advocate for individuals.

My physical disability gives me a unique sense of empathy for those who are disabled as well as any individual seeking to discover the power of their own voice and unique abilities. I want to help each of my clients use their voice as a tool to enable them to communicate their messages and experiences peacefully, so that they make people aware of their personal challenges to the world . People must never be afraid to stand up for what they believe in and ensure that their powerful voices are heard.

I consider myself an advocate and a good writer. I have experience writing case notes, datta entry creating resumes and cover letters, and was an asset with career assessments when I worked at Abilities, Inc. I am a hard-working, passionate patient person who works well with diverse teams.I have experience in rehabilitation counseling, specifically with completing academic evaluations for students. Within this role I worked with a case worker and met with students to discuss services and employment options. Throughout this position, I gained experience with writing case notes, answering phone calls and emails, and performing data entry. Additionally, I am proficient in Microsoft programs and have experience with writing memos and business letters, creating tables and charts, performing research and completing lesson plans.

Writing has had a huge influence on my life. It taught me valuable skills, including patience, authenticity, dedication, and confidence. An example of this is when I created a personal blog called the “Shining Star'' where I write posts on different topics and social issues that are important issues to me such as: educational inequality, gender roles, media, representation, Syrian refugees, and Egypt.. Writing provides happiness and an opportunity to become a better person and advocate. My blog allows me to advocate, inform, and educate my readers for positive change.

My resume is attached for your review. I look forward to hearing from you and answering any questions you may have. I can be contacted either at (516)974-1661or sarahelgohary87@gmail.com. Thank you for your time and attention to this application.

Sincerely,

Sarah Elgohary
