I am happy Naruto is with hitanta

I love anime Was Naruto's crush on Sakura based on his rivalry with Sasuke?

No. Naruto liked Sakura because of her personality, because he saw himself in her, and because of her looks.

Starting around the age of 5, Naruto was wowed by her fiery nature and admired her spirited personality. It seems that Sakura first caught his eye when Naruto saw her running wildly through the halls of the ninja academy, breaking the rules. As a regular rulebreaker himself, Naruto probably admired someone who also had the guts to recklessly break the rules, and it seems that Sakura first caught Naruto’s interest that day for that reason, since I think he couldn’t help but admire someone who seemed like him: mischievous, bold, and carefree enough to shirk the school’s rules.

Interested in this strange girl, Naruto followed her, and after witnessing Sakura’s fiery, spirited nature, he appeared to subsequently develop a crush on her, since he seemed to admire her spunky personality and perhaps he found it cute, or endearing, or inspiring, or relatable, or whatever. It had nothing to do with Sasuke.

Plus in Shippuden, Naruto had said that he was attracted to Sakura because she had a cute smile, so Naruto also liked Sakura for her looks.

And finally, Naruto developed on crush on Sakura because she was, like him, fighting to be acknowledged, and Naruto related to her and felt connected to her on a personal level because of that. Particularly since they had both latched on to the same person that they wanted acknowledgment from: Sasuke Uchiha. Naruto realized that the reason he liked her so much was because he related to her struggle for acknowledgment from Sasuke and he admired her for vying for Sasuke’s attention because Naruto was doing the same thing. So he liked her because he saw herself in her. Naruto had spent a lifetime struggling to gain attention and acknowledgment, so naturally he relates to someone also struggling to earn the acknowledgment and attention of others.

Naruto wasn’t fighting against Sasuke for Sakura’s attention, rather Naruto was striving along with Sakura to earn Sasuke’s attention, acknowledgment, and friendship (though of course the difference being that Naruto’s intentions were platonic and Sakura’s romantic). So it’s more of case of Naruto feeling connected and drawn to a person aiming for the same thing as he is: attention and friendship. It doesn’t have anything to do with some petty competition with Sasuke.

By Part II, Naruto's feelings were no longer just a crush: he was in love with Sakura. As teenagers, the two were now close friends and their shared dream of saving Sasuke was a strong binding force between them, as well as bring teammates and sharing several experiences together. Naruto no longer had a shallow crush on Sakura, his feelings for her were genuine and real, which is why he was able to prioritize Sakura’s happiness above his own.

In the end, though, Naruto was never able to win over Sakura's heart, since Sakura was always in love with Sasuke, not him.

Anyway, Naruto’s crush on Sakura just being because of his rivalry with Sasuke was just a cheap retcon The Last tried to sell, but it makes no sense, since lots of girls were crushing on Sasuke, so why doesn’t Naruto have crushes on all of them, like Ino and the other schoolgirls? Why choose only Sakura? Secondly, Sasuke treated Sakura pretty indifferently during their academy days and ignored all the fangirls fawning over him, so it wouldn’t make sense for Naruto to try to focus on Sakura since she wasn’t exactly Sasuke’s love interest at the time. Besides that, the significant moments between Sasuke and Sakura that did happen occurred when Naruto isn't around to see, meaning that Naruto didn't even realize that Sasuke liked Sakura until the hospital hug scene near the end of Part I.

Thus it makes no sense for Naruto to try to compete with Sasuke over someone Sasuke has shown virtually zero interest in or attention towards (until their genin/team days, but Naruto had a crush on Sakura way before that). Because even if Naruto did earn Sakura’s affections, Sasuke wouldn’t have cared nor would he have reacted, so for Naruto, gaining Sakura’s affections accomplishes nothing in his rivalry with Sasuke.

Plus if Naruto was only interested in Sakura because of Sasuke, then he would’ve stopped showing romantic interest in Sakura after Sasuke deserted the village and wasn’t even around anymore. But that didn’t happen, because even after Sasuke was gone, Naruto still persisted in asking Sakura out on dates and expressing romantic interest in her and he was direct about saying he was in love with Sakura. It wasn’t because of a rivalry that Naruto liked Sakura - he liked Sakura for who she was.

Why is Hinata so ugly in Boruto? I actually like Hinata and wanted her to look good in Boruto.

If Sasuke had to save one would he save Boruto or Sarada?

Does Naruto still need shadow clones to create a Rasengan?

Why does Naruto sleep in a sofa instead with Hinata?

What's the screenshot showing the best thing you've ever heard in your life?

If the owner of a cat died, will the cat know, or will the cat think her owner left her and escaped? In both situations, how will the cat feel?
