There is a part of chapter two in which I dislike the way Bourgois describes El Barrio residents. It is the section in which Bourgois explains that most El Barrio residents believe that they are individually responsible for the way their lives have gone and do not blame outside causes. He writes in a way that suggests that he completely agrees with them. I do not think he acknowledges their struggle just to stay afloat in this part. I agree with the notion that everyone is responsible for their own success too, but I wish Bourgois gave more acknowledgement to the effects of systematic marginalization, or at least did not sound so unsympathetic. Upward mobilization is very difficult for groups who live in poverty and do not have access to many government services. Even tough people can achieve their own success they need to be provided with services such as a house education. person( baby or babies ) grow slowly and they need all of these Individuals, people, and social groups to help them gain a perspective or world view, in, order to learn about social norms, morals, good and bad behaviors, how to build good character gain knowledge, a good education, and a large well connected social capital networks of friends, people you know. This is in order to achieve your dreams and goals in life to be a successful productive, member of society who knows how to a good decision that not only benefits himself or herself, but benefits all of society as well. This is why I say it is impossible to be selfish we need people to function live, and especially, being successful no one can be successful entirely and completely by themselves. We need help from people for everything. like that we get a first-hand experience on crack epidemic instead of the t he Hollywood version shows like cops and I agree with all of you it is not fair that children are forced into the same lively hood that they might not want and the discrimination they face
