How musical tastes affect your life
Many people think listening to music is just a fun recreational activity, but people do not realize that their musical tastes can have significant effects on their lives. There are four different ways that music can affect people’s lives. First of all, your musical preferences can be influenced by your family friends. Education movies
Secondly, how people are raised, the type of neighborhoods, they live in can affect the types of music they like to listen to . this can also affect what music genres people are exposed to growing up. Thirdly, a person’s musical preferences are influenced by the social networks that they have in life. Lastly, a person’s musical tastes are influenced by their cultures and ethnicities. Race can also influence these other factors and it plays a big role in the musical preferences of a person.

Music affects everyone’s life differently, it depends on each person’s personality and how he or she is affected by the music. For example, one person that we interviewed was Maurissa Buster, an African American, female. She believes that music plays a very important role in her life. This is because she says “My musical preferences have allowed me to bond with people, and start conversations.” in addition, he said that he has bonded with many people as a result, of his musical preferences his singing and his religion, This is shown when she says “Because I sing, it allows me to bond with people based off of show tunes.”“Music helps me connect with people”“Because I go to church, religion has affected the types of music I listen to” This proves that music really affects this person’s life in many positive ways. On the other hand, a Latin American, male, also believes that music affects your life in many different ways. However, unlike the African American he believes that music can, but it does not necessarily help you bond with people. He makes these points by saying “After moving, finding somebody that likes the same music as you helps you bond with a person” When I’m speaking to my friends I would use the same lingo that they do in hip-hop, but in a working environment or a job atmosphere I wouldn’t. It’s all about coding where you are.” These are two very different people with similar opinions on the effects of musical preferences on their lives.
Sometimes people are put into stereotypical groups based on the music they like. This is shown in two interviews we had one with a black female and a white male. The black man said he has not s been stereotyped and judged for the music he likes. He says “A lot of people like to associate hip-hop and rap and trap music with thugs and violence, and because of that, people who don’t like that type of music might judge me. But I associate with hip-hop with positivity; I see people working together and better themselves and doing something constructive like music to get themselves out of other situations like being in the street. People only believe that hip-hop is for thugs and violence because that’s what the public eye and the media embeds it in their head, so the first thing they think when they hear hip-hop or rap is something negative.”
On the other hand, a Muslim Indian I interviewed thinks music has affected her life, but she has never been judged for it. She says” I am not an avid music listener so that has affected my relationship with friends that are super into music. I don’t mind any kind so with friends whatever they are playing is usually okay with me, so long as it is not vulgar or profane.”A white female I interviewed said I think years ago certain races enjoyed certain types of music. For example, Hip-Hop was a genre that was mostly listened to by black people. However, I think in recent yeAre people ople are having more of an open mind about music and that a certain genre of music is specifically for one group of people. Music is universal and is made for anyone who wants to listen and enjoy it. Therefore, we have concluded that for some people music plays a big role in their life, not all.
