My goal

 Cover Letter

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my interest in becoming a writer and advocate for Noor Magazine. As a passionate writer who is committed to addressing social issues and giving a voice to those who struggle to share their experiences, I want to use my empathy and writing to speak out against injustice and help others. I have a strong passion for working with children, and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology. My dedication to advocating for individuals and creating meaningful change drives my desire to join your team.

I discovered Noor Magazine through a friend, and I have been inspired by your content, which includes poetry, writing, and art. Your work reminds me that writing is a versatile art form, offering limitless possibilities for expression. I appreciate how Noor Magazine provides various submission options that allow diverse voices to be heard. Writing empowers me and makes me feel limitless, and I aspire to share my work through your platform.

In my previous role at Abilities, Inc., I assisted with career assessments and worked closely with students to discuss available services and employment options. This experience allowed me to write case notes, manage communications, and perform data entry. I am proficient in Microsoft programs and have experience composing memos, business letters, tables, charts, and lesson plans.

I have developed a unique sense of empathy for individuals who feel unheard in society. I am passionate about helping people advocate for themselves and express their thoughts. I believe everyone has inherent talent that they can use to change the world and embrace their identity and experiences. My experiences have taught me the importance of advocacy for myself and others, and I want to empower my clients with this vital skill as a social worker.

Having a physical disability has deepened my empathy for individuals with disabilities and for anyone on a journey to discover their own voice and capabilities. I am dedicated to helping my clients use their voices to share their experiences peacefully, making their challenges visible to the world. I encourage them to stand up for their beliefs and ensure that their voices are heard.

My interest in social work is rooted in my passion for writing. Writing has allowed me to express myself and relieve my frustrations while teaching me patience, authenticity, dedication, and confidence. For example, I created a personal blog called "Shining Star," where I write about important topics, including educational inequality, gender roles, media representation, the Syrian refugee crisis, and issues related to Egypt. My blog serves as a platform for advocacy, information, and education, striving for positive change. Writing has helped me observe the world and its dynamics.

I am eager to explore the opportunity to join Noor Magazine further. Thank you for your time and consideration.

 My Bio for Writing Magazine

Sarah Elgohary is a dedicated writer who aspires to contribute to Noor Magazine and is a committed advocate for social justice, focusing on pressing issues such as the ongoing crises in Palestine, Syria, and Sudan. Sarah is deeply committed to empowering individuals to find and express their own voices.

Through her blog, she amplifies the voices of marginalized communities, including refugees, individuals with disabilities, those affected by domestic violence and homelessness and more recently by the actions of ICE. She informs and educates her audience on critical topics such as educational inequality, gender bias, and media representation. Sarah is seeking a position within an organization where she can apply her computer and communication skills to benefit both the community and her colleagues. Her strong attention to detail enables her to complete projects within reasonable timeframes, and she holds certifications in child abuse and sexual harassment prevention in mental health.

Sarah has found inspiration in articles like, "Let Gaza Live." She is passionate about advocating for Palestine and for individuals who lack a voice in society. In her own words, "No one should die from hunger." She resonates with the sentiment that "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. “Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly." - Martin Luther King Jr.

Sarah's personal journey is significant; she has cerebral palsy, which provides her with a unique perspective and empathy for those who are disabled and require representation, such as refugees and orphans. Her goal is to continue to advocate for others and help people gain confidence in their identities.

She has always been passionate about raising awareness of important issues. One of her beliefs, in Islam, is that saving one person is equivalent to saving all of humanity. "This country was created on the backs of immigrants," she states. Sarah believes that Islam teaches us to appreciate our differences, emphasizing that the Prophet Muhammad taught that no one is better than another based on color or race, except for those who excel in their actions.

Education is another passion of hers; she believes that everyone deserves access to a diverse educational experience and good environment to gain knowledge. She has published an article with a nonprofit organization about education inequality with Good Will Cavern. (Linked Below)

Sarah is concerned about the abuses within the American prison system and would love to volunteer and meet with affected individuals. She is eager to engage in advocacy and publish her writings, while seeking opportunities to become generally involved.
