I have cerebral palsy, which has made me realize how important it is to convey your own ideas and messages. Having cerebral palsy makes me realize how important it is to independently convey your own messages and communicate your ideas in a positive light. My experience with cerebral palsy has taught me that only the individual can truly advocate for themselves. Some therapists ask you questions to try to get you to talk, and I know they mean well, but it doesn’t really help. A part of therapy is that they are building up a relationship with the patient so they actually feel comfortable, and you can’t do that by simply asking questions for an hour. -Find out what they’re interested in.
