My soul

Helping others through social work is one of my main goals and passions in life because I have always wanted to advocate for people. I have cerebral palsy, which has made me realize the importance of conveying your own ideas and messages , in a positive and respectful manner to the world. I discovered I wanted to be a social worker when I was fifteen . I used my voice to advocate resolving a family fight between my aunt and uncle that had lasted two hours. Although I could not physically intervene and resolve the issue, I acted as a moderator and was able to use my voice to convince them to listen to and see each other’s perspectives. I realized that I was never going to stand idly by and do nothing when people are in trouble. This experience taught me that I have the power to advocate for myself and others. This was a realization for me because when I learned to advocate for myself, I was able to communicate my needs without worrying about whether others would advocate for ...

The best way to use technology

Sarah Elgohary 3l23/21 Technology is revolutionizing the way people are interacting with the world . Two famous sociologists Sherry Turkle and Nickolas Carr each discuss their own unique perspective on ideas and the impact of technology in society in different ways. For Instance, Sherry Turkle discusses both positive and negative effects of computers in her piece “ How Computers Change the Way We Think “ In this piece, she makes a an argument that not only is there simply no way” to establish whether the changes of technology are good or bad but she also saying that after each step individuals take we have “ to ask educators, citizens whether current technology is leading us in directions that serve our human purposes.”” “These types of questions are not only technical, but they are also social, moral, and political questions that society has to ask people in order To determine if technology has more benefits than negatives. Global citizen

Sarah Elgohary Sociology global cites Professor Gal Sailer Spring semester Final exam What makes a city 'global'? Is there one model of the 'global city' or competing versions? There are many qualities that make a city a city, but when do cities become global? In my opinion, there are five factors that make a city global. These factors are 1 The rapid expansion of a global consumer class, and the second factor is the rise of urban regions as the engines of global economic growth have ushered in a new era. The third factor of global cities is that the global economy no longer revolves around a handful of dominant states and their national urban centres. This fundamental shift has both challenged the United States with greater global competition but also offered the prospect of all U.S. metropolitan areas to benefiting from engaging in growing markets abroad .      Out of all the characteristics that global cities have the two characteristics that stand out to m...

Capital

Sarah Elgohary Sensation & Perception, Fall 2015 MY Reaction to the product displacement debate     I enjoyed the debate of products displacing in movies. Even though the idea of product displacement is not only in movies but all over any type media For example, most television shows displacement of products like I phone or I pads by disguising the apple logos as pears on poplar nickelodeon shows . I hate when television shows advertising agencies advertised products in such obvious ways because people can obviously tell what the products are. This product displacement is very distracting from the actual plot of movies because of most products have nothing to do with what the movies are talking about. Companies are advertising their products in movies by creating new context in movies for their products to secretly be advertised in hidden messages that are very obvious, yet subtle and then the movies always continue with the normal plot until the movies ar...
