2. Susan Crass is forty eight years old single mother with 3 jobs. She is a graduate of Hofstra University with a Master’s degree in elementary school fourth grade English. She is a part time teacher from eleven AM to five pm at Hillside Grade School Monday through Friday s part time librarian on Saturdays.

4. Susan had been married and widowed. Susan married her high school sweet heart John who suddenly died of a heart attack in 2005.

Susan has four children Elizabeth the oldest seventeen a senior in high school Lydia who is a fifteen year old high school sophomore. Jake who is 12 years old, he is sixth grade. Finally, there is little Madison who is five years old and in Kindergarten.

5 a Susan work three nights a week; she works twelve hours on Saturday and Sunday. She works 120 hours a month. She works the night shifts at Wal-Mart from 10pm to 7 am Monday through Wednesday including some holidays like black Friday. The Night Shift starts at Ten pm. The Night Shift ends seven am
6. How long have you been working nights? Susan had been working night for three month
How long have you been working weekends? Susan had been working week end for two years
7. If you are married or in a relationship, does your spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend also work nights?
8. Have you always worked nights? And/or do you prefer to work nights? If you could work a day shift, would you make that change in your work schedule?
Susan had been working no I would prefer to work a day shift Susan my boy friend frank works during the day he is a high school counselor “ Susan says “ it so hard to raise a family in the 21st century when I ever spend a enough time with frank and my kids
9. What does your spouse, family, boyfriend/girlfriend think about you working nights? And does he/she expect you to be doing this forever? “Susan says my in-laws hate me working night shifts because it is a bad influence on kids I often have to ask my parents and friends to babysit the kids.I cannot afford child care.
10. What do you do about dinner? I eat out at least twice a week fast-food almost every day

11. In a typical week, how many dinners do you have with your spouse or kids or with the people who mean a lot to you? Susan told me in a typical week, she had only two to three dinners with the family if she is lucky
12. Let me know if working nights has caused you to:
A. Lose sleep/not get enough sleep? Yes I never get enough sleep I get two to three hour a night
b. Eat alone more than you would like? I eat alone every other night
c. Put too much of your housework/chores on hold? I never have time to clean the apartment everything gets piled up
d. Feel that your love life is diminished or rushed? Susan yes my love life is rushed no time intimacy with frank
e. Feel that you are not socializing enough with your friends? Yes too busy working for a social life
f. Hear complaints from family, friends, boyfriend /girlfriend that you are not spending enough time with them. Yes I need to spend more time with family
g. Feel that there is just not enough time in the day to do the things you like to do. Yes like reading a good book or going back to school.

Yes take my advice never gets into a tag team marriage it is too complicated and frustrating stressful the economy that never sleeps sucks real marriage
14. Why do you think I am doing this interview for my Sociology Class? Susan says I your professor am teaching you about generation gaps of family over time the different living conditions. The professor is showing how pre modern family compares to 21 century family and the changes in family dynamics. Tag team marriage did not exist before the 21st century
