The Loving vs. Virginia case was very interesting to me for many reasons. The Virginia law of racial integrity act of 1924 anti-Miscegenation laws makes no sense to me. In my opinion, there is no reason why should two people who love each other should not be allowed to marry in their own state and have move to Washington D.C in order to have their marriage recognized by the state and federal government just because of their skin color. I believe people should have the right to marry whoever they want to whether it is a interracial marriage or not racial differences should not interfere with love, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In addition The Loving v.s Virginia case is an example of institutional discrimination because marriage is fundamental a human right that is protected under the 14th Amendment. Moreover, The Loving v.s Virginia case decision to legalize interracial marriages proves the statement marriage is not biologically determined therefore all people should have equal rights and treatment in all marriages. Miscegenation is one of the many social issues represented in the Loving v.s Virginia case other social factors that were evident In the case were social status, class, income, discrimination and the fourteenth amendment. Mildred and Richard Loving were of different race a black woman, a white man who fell In love and wanted to be married this was very significant in the 1950. The 1950s were a time of racial segregation of whites and African-American it led to a lot of social inequalities for African-Americans. This Is why the Loving vs. Virginia case is so significant the case created a lot of racial tension between whites , African-Americans and other minorities groups. Mildred and Richard Loving were both working class citizens with low paying jobs, facing discrimination and prejudice from not only their neighborhood, which they both grew up in but in their own community and state. Mildred and Richard Loving were just two innocent people who were in love their goal , was to get married and go back to Virginia , but they changed history and through the civil rights movement they were able to legalize interracial marriage in Virginia and the United States of America. Mildred and Richard Loving were able to overcome discrimination and racial inequality. The Loving v.s Virginia case is a turning point for interracial marriages and African-Americans who now had more social mobility in our social stratification system in society due to the interracial marriages. Interracial marriages leads to more social privileges, job opportunities assess to better resources for African-Americans and minority groups. We are all equal
