Love Egypt

Egypt made me laugh and positively amazing happy and grateful. I realized what is important in life Allah family and friends independent. I really appreciate it I also realize why I hate reality tv shows and the internet I have a message for my readers

Children, especially young girls and teens, learn more about the world and the fundamentals of society from television than any other source of media. There is a saying “True beauty is only skin deep.”Therefore if that saying were true in our society, then why is it that an individual’s appearance is the first thing that people in our society judge about individuals, more specifically the appearance of women? People in our society need to acknowledge the fact that the appearance of women is not really the only thing that matters; the only things that matter are the personalities, voices, and the accomplishments of women.    Why is it that even though women can be powerful, successful leaders, with a strong voice and many accomplishments, the only things that matter in society are always a woman’s appearance and the fact that women are child-bearers?  This is because unfortunately, reality shows teach young girls and teens that body image and a young woman’s appearance is the only thing that matters.  As a result, reality shows create a very negative portrayal of women in society; therefore this portrayal of women revolves around the idea that “sex sells” and it is destroying women’s self-esteem.
As soon as they have learned to walk, children are socialized differently based on their gender and television reality shows.  Reality shows portray women as stupid, powerless, needy, feisty, too emotional, irrational, and dependent on men.    This portrayal of women in society is unrealistic because it is the complete opposite of how women are in reality. There are many powerful women in our society. In addition, the media teaches young girls that they cannot look good, be intelligent, independent, powerful, and successful all at the same time.  This makes young girls have no confidence in who they really are and how they naturally look or their intellectual, or creative abilities in school. As a result young women develop very low self-self-esteem. . Some teenage women learn and believe that they have to only behave or act out a certain way, wear really short shirts expose their breasts, wear ton  a of makeup, get plastic surgery, be ( exactly like Snooky and other women on reality shows in order to get attention from guys, and hide their own insecurities.
The media’s powerful influence on girls has increased dramatically because of technology.  For example, I find it so unbelievable that three weeks ago in Nigeria a group of terrorists destroyed a school and they kidnapped three hundred teenage girls in high school.  The worst part is no one was aware of this tragedy until somebody posted a hashtag on twitter “Bring Back our Girls.” Now there has been over a million replies to that hashtag. Even Michelle Obama has become the latest high profile name to tweet her support and in cities as far apart as Abuja, Washington, Los Angeles, Dublin and London, demonstrators have put on red T-shirts to draw attention to the girls' plight and demand their release. Yet, ironically no one including the United States wants to spend money to send troops over there to save the girls. If a single tweet of social media can suddenly bring so much attention to a serious issue, that people in society were unaware of before then; this incident proves that the power of social media has grown so much over the years.
Due to technology and television shows, girls start to believe that they are worthless without any makeup, fake eyelashes, or expensive beauty products.  However, the media self objectifies women by digitally enhancing photos of models to make them look perfect. For example, these digitally enhanced photos of models have models with bigger, brighter, more colorful eyes with long eyes, lashes, and no fine lines or wrinkles. Digitally enhanced photos of models are photoshopped to make the women look really skinny, size 0 to 2, their faces are so smooth. The women in the photos look fuller have longer hair, bigger lips, bigger breasts, bigger heads, and small bodies. This makes young girls and teens feel dissatisfied with their body image so they are under so much pressure from society that they want to reach these impossible goals in order to be happy. Then they spend a lot of money on products that young girls do not even need to make themselves look beautiful when in fact they already are. This pressure from society can cause young women to develop eating disorders. And are on their computers for more than an hour per day. Even media aimed at elementary school-age children, such as animated cartoons like the Little Mermaid and children’s videos; emphasize the importance of being attractive. Sexually objectified images of girls and women in advertisements are most likely to appear in men’s magazines. Sources of such images are the advertisements in teen magazines directed at adolescent girls.
The effect of media on women’s body dissatisfaction, thin-ideal internalization, and disordered eating appears to be stronger among young adults than children and adolescents. This may suggest that long-term exposure during childhood and adolescence lays the foundation for the negative effects of media during early adulthood. Then they spend a lot of money on products that young girls do not even need to make themselves look beautiful, when in fact they already are.  This pressure from society can cause young women to develop eating disorders.

In addition, the media also limits the role of women to motherhood.  The media convinces young girls to buy look like and act like a Barbie doll so pampered, elegant, polite and wearing high heels.  Young girls are trained by society and their parents to play with dolls, makeup, easy bake ovens to learn to cook, clean, dress well be nurturing  In order to be a good mother. According to “Teen mags how to get a guy to lose twenty pounds and lose your self-esteem’” from a very young age girls are bombarded with messages on how to look sexy in order to get a guy’s attention and ultimately get married, have kids be a mother. Most women cannot reproduce after the age of thirty-six so they cannot be mothers. That is why in society’s standards all women over the age of thirty-six, should “just die”.

In conclusion, the media has a strong influence on women.   A `majority of the media has a negative portrayal of women in society.  The portrayal of women on reality TV shows is the opposite of real women.   In recent years some magazines have made positive portrayals of women. For example, the magazine “Seventeen has a positive article on what real women go through; the women in the article are a size eight and ten.
